Description
S.Millard Chartered Professional Accountant, Community Futures Wood Buffalo and Wood Buffalo Economic Development are excited to have partnered to bring you the latest Women in Business event as the newly name "The Women's Business Connect".
Staci Millard has spearheaded the creation of a movement of women in the community and we are hoping to continue with this momentum as a collective committee of likeminded women and support organizations.
Join us September 19th for a morning of inspiration, learning and networking. We are very excited to be hosting two successful women entrepreneurs who will be sharing their entrepreneurial story. Candice Munroe owner of Buttercream Clothing & Jennifer Carlson, Owner of Baby Gourmet. In addition to hearing their stories you will also have an opportunity to participate in two breakout sessions:
1. A panel discussion with Candice, Staci Millard and Jon Close.
2. Interactive learning session with Jennifer Carlson - Understanding your customer- this session will help the entrepreneurs understand how to better meet the needs of their customers by thinking outside the box and asking the right questions with an interactive exercise.
Presenters:
Candice Munro
In beautiful Kelowna, British Columbia, Candice had the simple idea of making cute, vintage-inspired aprons. With a name just as sweet to match, Buttercream Aprons sprung to life. But as word quickly got out about Candice’s delicious designs and whimsical fabrics, orders began bounding in. Candice found herself whipping up so much more than just aprons. Her modest one-woman production soon blossomed into a full clothing and accessories line. To meet the growing demand for gorgeous, ethical clothing made in Canada, Buttercream Aprons evolved into Buttercream Clothing as it added a team of talented seamstresses and two manufacturing facilities in Canada. Candice and the business have since moved to Calgary, Alberta and are so excited as the business continues to grow.
Jennifer Carlson:
Jennifer Carlson is the co-founder and visionary behind Baby Gourmet, Canada’s leading brand of organic baby food, specializing in nutritious and delicious packaged food for babies and toddlers. She successfully launched the Baby Gourmet brand in 2006 at The Calgary Farmers Market and has since built a company with products distributed in major retailers across North America and China. Capturing over 30% of the baby food market share in Canada, Baby Gourmet has become the leading brand of baby food in Canada and is a household name for busy families across the country.
Jen is the mother of two well-fed children, an innovator, an inspirational speaker and a contributing parenting expert on Huffington Post Canada. Her first cookbook “Growing Up Gourmet” hit shelves in spring 2016 and she is excited to launch her new company, Thirsty Naturals, a natural line of personal care products designed and marketed for teenagers, coming to market August 2018.
