About Us

WBH was established by the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in 2001 as a not-for-profit, arm’s length Part 9 subsidiary to replace Fort McMurray Housing Authority. WBH’s mission is ‘to collaborate to pursue safe and sustainable housing solutions for all residents of the region’. Our mission is built on the foundation of our mandate, as well as the core values of the corporation. That is why we collaborate with our many stakeholders, including tenants, community groups, non-profits, industry, and government to pursue safe and sustainable housing solutions for all residents of our community.

WBH manages approximately 1200 housing units of near market rentals that are required to be at least 10% below market rental rates. We do not receive government funding to manage these near market rentals. These are part of our not-for-profit portfolio.

WBH is also the provincially designated Housing Management Body for the Wood Buffalo Region. We manage all community housing, independent and supportive living seniors’ housing, and the Rent Supplement Program (Rental Assistance Benefit and Temporary Rent Assistance Benefit) in Wood Buffalo on behalf of the Province.
